Position Summary:

The Regional Manager will be responsible for building his/her region as each new store opens.  The incumbent will be responsible for opening and operating the first location, customer service, sales, store operations, community engagement, and human resources in their assigned region.  The Regional Manager will be accountable for sales growth, profitability, and continuous improvement of our operating systems. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, new store openings, developing and motivating teams to deliver on our vision & client experience, and developing business action plans for the region. The Regional Manager will lead stores through inspiring and clear communication, team building, and establishing effective business relationships. Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations, this role regularly collaborates with various business partners at our corporate office. 

Responsibilities:

Drive & Deliver Sales and Profit:

  • Holds self and team accountable for the achievement of financial targets through monitoring and taking action on driving key results

  • Acts quickly to assess and correct direction of the business as needed

  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to drive results in product conversion, average ticket, and increasing loyalty and client capture rate within communities. Can coach General Managers to do the same.

  • Monitor store productivity, profitability & payroll budgets and develops long-range goals & objectives to maximize sales and profit

  • Develops, communicates, and executes Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly & Annual business action plans

  • Runs business with agility, changing direction & continuously improving based on market changes, key indicators, nd lessons learned

  • Protect assets and ensure compliance with Loss Prevention practices to control shrink

  • Empower GMs in decision making processes by integrating different solutions that deliver the best results

  • Manage performance issues quickly with empathy, authenticity, and in a fact-based manner, in conjunction with H.R. and Director as needed

  • Communicate clearly in the face of ambiguity, share information and experiences with GMs and peers. Create peer networks so that best learnings and practices can be applied across entire region and retail store portfolio

  • Support the continuous improvement of customer experience standards in our brand

  • Be able to diagnose and provide resources to your stores that will help increase productivity and sales, including but not limited to selling skills and customer service

  • Partner with Director and corporate team to ensure that the assortment of product for your region meets the needs of our business

  • Lead and engage in in-store and community events

Build the Brand:

  • Start out by opening the stores that will be part of your region, fulfilling the role of the General Manager as you develop your first GM and open additional stores. You will be building your region out one store at a time

  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all Store Operating Procedures, Operational Excellence tools, training, and People development tools

  • Be a strong brand ambassador and build connections within the company and the communities in which we do business

  • Ensure all stores in the market are fully merchandised according to our product and visual guidelines while adapting to market needs

Operational Excellence:

  • Partner with Director of Retail Operations and other corporate partners to manage new store openings in your region/market with a coordinated and planned approach

  • Work collaboratively with corporate office business partners on projects related to continuous improvement in retail operations

  • Support in the design and execution of operational reports and Operational Excellence tracking

  • Review operational reports and records to ensure compliance with our operational policies & procedures. Provide coaching & feedback to help stores improve

  • Accountable for all stores in region executing our People policies, ESA legislation, and Federal & Provincial retail cannabis legislation

  • Ensure maintenance of stores physical appearance and cleanliness

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years high volume multi-unit management experience with a leading brand in retail/hospitality industry

  • Hands-on leader: Willingness to fully operate first new store opening as your region grows

  • 1- 3 years experience in sales of regulated products and/or services (cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, casino)

  • Proven track record of generating sales across a regional/district, and achieving and exceeding sales and profit targets

  • Agility and ability to thrive and lead in an ever-changing, dynamic, and new industry

  • Strong retail operations knowledge including customer service, sales driving, inventory control, loss prevention, retail systems and merchandising

  • Dynamic professional presence and behaviour that inspires trust, collaboration and integrity while influencing and motivating retail management and staff

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills using positive leadership models

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in various roles based on business needs and growth

  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Fully embrace, embody and demonstrate our brand and customer experience values

  • Experience in a start up business

  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time once region is formed, and during new store opening process. Occasional travel to U.S. markets for training and cross provincial/overnight travel included

  • Genuine enthusiasm about the cannabis industry, and good foundational product knowledge

Expected hours of work:

  • Full time

  • Working conditions: retail store, office, back of house office, small vault and inventory room
